About the founder

Hi! My name is Gabriella Geer, and I am a 16 year old Traumatic Brain Injury survivor, living with Post Concussion Syndrome. Since my fall and TBI, I’ve had a first hand experience of what it is like living with an “invisible injury”; one that I struggle with on a daily basis, but that no one else can see. It’s difficult in so many ways. It’s isolating. But, through my journey to healing, I’ve found others who are struggling with something similar, making my journey a little less daunting. That’s why I created Notes of Hope. I truly believe that the proper support through your healing makes a world of difference, and dream of this becoming a community filled with love and support.

We each have our own unique story of how we got here, and no one will have exactly the same journey to healing. However, as someone who has struggled with finding a community of those dealing with invisible illnesses similar to mine, my goal is to support others going through something similar as they begin their healing. The road to recovery can be so daunting at times, but with the resources I have put together, you can dive right in, while also being surrounded by a community that loves and cares about you. Check out the “resources” page where you will find the different things that have helped lessen my PCS and have helped me heal.

On the “resources” page, you will also find a link to a company called NESTRE, a group that has changed my life in more ways than one. NESTRE harnesses the power of neuro-plasticity in your brain, and through in person training with their cutting-edge technology, I have seen such a difference in my everyday symptoms with Post Concussion Syndrome. Dr. Tommy Shavers, founder and CEO, as well as other individuals at NESTRE have truly supported me through my journey to healing, and have ultimately inspired me to start this community.

NESTRE has been so life changing for me, that I will also be starting a grant fund so that others can experience relief from their struggle with invisible injuries. Whether you want to donate to the cause or are someone who could benefit from treatment with NESTRE but the cost would be difficult, check out the “resources” page, or get in touch using the form below. We would be happy to reach out and support you in whatever way possible!

Lastly, the other part of my story that has been so important in my healing is my love for music. I’ve been playing piano for twelve years, and I believe that music was truly a saving grace when I first had my TBI. Not only did it help me bounce back fast, but the time that I spent playing piano was really the only part of my day when I wouldn’t experience the crippling symptoms of PCS. Not everyone will experience the same love of music, but I hope that it could play a role in your healing process as well. A big part of the grant fund will be coming from concerts put on year round, so if you would like to perform with me, or just get in touch about the music aspect of healing, I’m here for you. Reach out below, and I can’t wait to get to know you and your story.

Mission • Purpose • Impact

Who We Are

Notes of Hope – Friends of the Brain Injury Association of America (the BIAA, biausa.org) is a volunteer-driven initiative created to support individuals and families affected by traumatic and acquired brain injuries. We operate as an Unincorporated Nonprofit Association dedicated to awareness, education, and fundraising in support of BIAUSA’s national mission.

Brain injuries are often silent, invisible, and misunderstood. Notes of Hope exists to change that—through community outreach, storytelling, music, and charitable support.

Our Purpose

Notes of Hope is focused on three core objectives:

1. Raising Awareness

We work to increase understanding of brain injuries—particularly the hidden symptoms that impact millions of Americans but remain unseen by others.

2. Supporting Research & Treatment Innovation

Through merchandise sales, events, and grassroots fundraising, we help provide financial support to BIAUSA and its affiliated research partners who are advancing treatment methods and improving long-term outcomes for survivors.

3. Using Music to Support Healing & Neuroplasticity

Notes of Hope brings a unique angle to brain-injury advocacy: music as a scientifically supported tool for healing, cognitive recovery, and neuroplastic change. We highlight and support musical interventions that help the brain rebuild, rewire, and recover.

How We Work

• We are a nonprofit association operated by volunteers.

• Proceeds from merchandise and fundraising efforts are forwarded directly to the Brain Injury Association of America (BIAUSA) or approved research partners.

• We partner with communities, musicians, survivors, and supporters to spread awareness and spark healing.

Why Music?

Modern neuroscience shows that:

• rhythm helps restore gait and movement

• melody stimulates memory pathways

• musical engagement enhances emotional stability

• active music-making encourages neuroplasticity—the brain’s ability to heal and rewire

Notes of Hope champions these benefits as a central part of brain-injury recovery.

How to Support

You can support Notes of Hope by:

• purchasing merchandise

• participating in fundraising initiatives

• sharing our mission

• contributing directly to BIAUSA through our partner links

Net proceeds of all Notes of Hope merchandise purchases, as well as donations to Notes of Hope, will be donated directly to the BIAUSA.  Receipts for contributions in excess of [$100] can be requested and will be provided directly from the the Brain Injury Association of America. Every purchase and every donation helps fund research, treatment, and hope.

Our Commitment

We exist solely to help survivors and families affected by brain injury, and to support the life-changing work of the Brain Injury Association of America.

Awareness. Healing. Music. Hope.

That is what Notes of Hope stands for.
